About Us

Linwood Middle School is a learning community comprised of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students who are organized into teams that are divided into three House Centers. The Core Curriculum includes courses in Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. This Core is supported by Life Skills courses where students explore Music, Art, Computers, Technology and World Languages (French, Spanish, German, and Italian). We also offer a Health Education and Physical Education curriculum that supports the physical development of middle level students.

Linwood Middle School offers its students a variety of co-curricular opportunities. Linwood Middle School students have taken on major roles in drama productions and as members of our band, choir, and orchestra performance groups. Active co-curricular groups include Yearbook, Student Council, Debate Club, Homework Club, Operation Achievement, Humanitarian, School Newspaper, Academic Challenge, Literacy Magazine, PBIS club, Book Club, along with our National Junior Honor Society. Additionally, all students at LMS have the opportunity to participate on our athletic teams: Boys and Girls Soccer, Cheerleading, Softball, Boys and Girls Lacrosse, Boys and Girls Basketball, Boys and Girls Cross Country, Wrestling and Football. We believe that student participation in a variety of activities support their intellectual, emotional, social, and physical development, further supporting their success at Linwood Middle School.

The Linwood Middle School works closely with a Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) and the community to ensure a partnership in our students’ education. The PTSO sponsors a mini-grant program for staff for innovative ideas; they also run the school store, sponsor annual Book Fairs to encourage reading, and sponsor educational assemblies to promote a learning climate.

Our students are provided with opportunities both during and beyond the school day for academic enrichment. After homeroom, all students have a “Read and Review” period which provides support in test taking strategies in preparation for state mandated tests, and also provides extra help for students in their classes.
